RNHA National Committeeman Lauded for Work for Special Needs Programs
Milwaukee officials recently recognized the commitment of an Elgin man in making their city a better place.
Joseph Galvan, a regional director for the US Department of Housing and Urban Developments, was recognized by having a day named in his honor: Jan. 15, 2009.
In feting Galvan, Mayor Tom Barrett highlighted several of his achievements that have improved the lives of the people of Milwaukee. Those achievements included helping secure a $1.2 million grant for the AIDS Resource Center in Milwaukee, helping increase minority homeownership, making public housing more accessible, and educating minority businesses on how to secure government contracts.
Galvan has served as the Midwest Regional Director of HUD since 2001. He has represented the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois as their national committeeman since 2007.
