New Executive Board Elected at 2011 RNHA IL Convention

Republican National Hispanic Assembly, Illinois Chapter Holds Biennial State Convention

On Saturday, February 5, 2011, the Illinois Chapter of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RNHA) held its Biennial State Convention in Dixon, Illinois. The RNHA IL was proud to honor President Ronald Reagan on his 100th birthday by having the convention in Dixon and thanks the good people of Dixon and the Comfort Inn of Dixon for hosting the event.

Professional Certified Parliamentarian, Nancy Sylvester - MA, PRP, CPP-T, was approved by the majority of credentialed RNHA delegates to preside over the Convention. As an expert, a trainer, and a former professor of parliamentary procedure, Ms. Sylvester was an excellent choice to ensure integrity, fairness and impartiality to the Convention.

Mission The mission of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly is to build a membership organization to foster the principles of the Republican Party in the Hispanic community; provide Hispanic Americans with a forum to play an influential role in local, state, and national Party activities; increase the number of Republican elected officials; and create and maintain a network of Hispanic Republican leaders.

Election of Officers State Chairman Rafael Rivadeneira was reelected Chairman of the RNHA IL for a two year term by a majority of the credentialed delegates. His pledge to the RNHA is to continue to stand up for conservative Republican values. He said, “It was President Reagan whose birth we celebrate tomorrow, that taught Republicans its conservative leadership that's the formula for victory. It does more than win fair elections. It sets America on the path to success, and can restore its economy to greatness. I learned those lessons during the Reagan Revolution, and will share them with the RNHA, the Hispanic community, and the Republican Party across all of Illinois.”

RNHA Winnebago County Chapter Chairman John Guevara was elected Vice-Chair, Olga Pereira was elected Second Vice-Chair, Jose Jorge was elected Treasurer, Penny Falcon was elected Secretary, Kevin Schoonamaker was elected Assistant Treasurer, RNHA Central Illinois Chapter Chairman Martina Pereira was elected Assistant Secretary, RNHA Southern Illinois Chapter Chairman Gloria Campos was re-elected National Committeewoman, and G.G. Garcia was elected National Committeeman.

Speaker National Committewoman and Secretary of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Demetra DeMonte delivered a stirring address calling for Republicans to come together and help Americans realize how truly great America is and how much more it can be – a true "shining city on a hill."

Summary The RNHA IL is excited to move forward and bridge the gap between the Hispanic community and the Republican Party in Illinois and the United States. RNHA values are shared values, and RNHA IL will work to advance this awareness to the Hispanic community as it makes every effort to bring the Republican Party success throughout the great state of Illinois.

  • I fear the day when my house is filled with plenty and while my people suffer of their own course. The beast of the wild roam free when stand up to man and fight for that Liberty, fight to defend their familes and fight to defend their property. So to must each man and woman be responsible for their own Liberty.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” - Hosea 4:6

“I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe . . . Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing. Make them intelligent, and they will be vigilant; give them the means of detecting the wrong, and they will apply the remedy.”
