ILRNHA Supports Gov Rauner on Syrian Refugees Decision
The Executive Board and members of the Illinois Republican National Hispanic Assembly (ILRNHA) support Governor Bruce Rauner’s decision to temporarily suspend accepting new Syrian refugees into IL. A decision he made after the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, France.
Today we live in challenging times in our world and in our state. Governor Rauner’s executive decision, grants peace of mind to the members of our organization and surely to the vast majority of Illinoisans.
“Having our Vice-Chair, Benjamin Ordoñez, in Paris at the time of the attacks and listening to the horror terrorist brought to the French people reminds us of the real threat terrorism has on our nation”, said ILRNHA Chairwoman Gloria Campos.
"After going through the ordeal of being in Paris through this tragedy and seeing the hardships endured by the people in Paris and all those of us trying to come home last Saturday, I am thankful for Governor Rauner's leadership in making the hard decision to suspend the reception of Syrian refugees at this time. I agree with Governor Rauner in making the safety of the people of Illinois a priority", said ILRNHA Vice-Chair Benjamin Ordoñez.
We ask everyone to continue their prayers for the French people and thank Governor Rauner for his leadership on this issue.
